Submissions Guidelines

1. We accept all writings from an Afrocentric perspective including poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, essay, and scholarly writings. Please submit a 1 paragraph proposal of what your submission will be prior to submitting it.

2. Submissions must be electronically submitted; either in the body of the e-mail or as an attached word “.doc” There is no limit on length. Longer texts may be divided over several publications.

3. All submissions must include a clear photograph of the author and a brief biography.

4. Please submit accompanying photographs and images as jpg or gif files.

5. Scholarly writings must include a “Works Cited & Consulted” section, appropriately formatted (e.g., MLA, APA, etc.)

6. For visual and environmental studies (photography and video) of Black people, culture, communities, etc. We can accept up to 12 images (jpg or gif) per theme and each should be accompanies by a 1-5 sentence description.

7. If the work has been previously published, please include where, when and a statement that you have the exclusive rights to the intellectual property.
